Linksland Rd

Outdoor living in South Carolina is a huge part of our lifestyle. Our winters are usually mild and our summers are long, so we need to make the most of it. For many of us, a screened porch is the embodiment of outdoor living. This screened porch addition and deck is a picturesque Lowcountry scene, and we enjoyed every moment of designing and building it for this client.

This porch looks and feels much larger than it really is, thanks to the vaulted ceilings and custom built truss, which was the inspiration for our business logo. Our standard screening is a very high density screen with mesh small enough to keep gnats out. The only drawback is it blocks light and air flow, so we tend to try to make up for it with large screened openings and high ceilings.

For the decking, we installed Azek's Timbertech Vintage collection in Dark Hickory with hidden fasteners. The railings were Azek composite railings. There are several ways to set up the screening and railing system, but it is critical to leave a small gap underneath the bottom railing to make cleaning the decking easy. We install a wider lower railing to allow the screen channel to run along this bottom rail, instead of being fastened to the deck, allowing for this gap. It also creates a nice big screen panel on the exterior, which is much more aesthetically pleasing.
